South Area Neighborhood Plan Open House and Walking Tour

The South Areas Neighborhood Plan process continues over the next couple of weeks with an open house on Wednesday, August 20th and walking tours on August 23 and September 6.  The plan includes the area bounded by U.S. Highway 6 on the north, C-470 on the east, Colfax Avenue on the south, and the mountain backdrop on the west, so it includes neighborhoods like Golden Terrace, Heritage Dells, Golden Ridge, Stone Bridge, and Eagleridge.  If you live in the area please join your neighbors, and members of the Planning Commission, City Council, and city staff to walk through your neighborhoods, identify things you like and dislike, and discuss what our vision for the future of these areas should be.

The details:

Wednesday, August 20: South Area Neighborhood Plan Open House, Fire Station #4, issues include future lands uses, Heritage Road, walking and biking improvements, others.

Saturday, August 23: Walking Tour - We'll meet at the Golden Ridge shopping center parking lot and walk through the area east of Heritage Road.

Saturday, September 6: Walking Tour - We'll meet at Shelton Elementary School and walk through the area west of Heritage Road.

Arts Fest

Saturday's rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the artists or the Golden residents that spent time wandering and shopping at the Golden Fine Arts Festival.  I put my umbrella to good use and had a great time chatting with the artists and Golden folks.  Nearly all of the artists I spoke with talked about how exceptional Golden's festival is.  In addition to being well organized and managed, most also talked about how well-treated they are by the festival organizers.  This is part of why we attract such a high quality group of artists and why so many keep returning year after year.  My thanks to all of the artists for being part of the festival (some of whom traveled from the Denver Metro area and others from far distant places), the organizers for putting on such a terrific event (again and again!) despite the rain, and for everyone who spent time on 11th shopping and ambling.
