Continue improving bicycle and pedestrian connectivity throughout Golden by implementing the city’s pedestrian and bicycle plans and taking advantage of other opportunities. As part of the Downtown Golden Character Plan, improve pedestrian friendliness in the downtown area. Adopt and implement a plan for educating drivers about the need to stop at crosswalks using better street markings, flashing lights, or other appropriate methods. Improve the safety of pedestrian crossings at key downtown area intersections.
Status: The Downtown Golden Character Plan process is underway and pedestrian-friendliness is one issue they are considering. Continued implementation of the bicycle and pedestrian plans is scheduled and ongoing. I secured funding through the Denver Regional Council of Governments to construct a bicycle and pedestrian path connecting Golden Heights with the rest of Golden. The planning for that project, in collaboration with Lakewood and Jefferson County, is underway. |
