Colorado School of Mines/City of Golden Integrated Transportation Plan
My 2007 Priorities

Through a collaborative effort involving Colorado School of Mines, neighborhoods adjacent to campus, the city, downtown merchants, and other interested community members, adopt an integrated transportation plan for addressing parking and other community transportation challenges related to the university. The goals should be to reduce the use of cars on campus and to reduce university-based parking pressure on surrounding neighborhoods. The plan should address the following: a) making it easier for students and faculty to walk and bike to campus; b) integrating the pedestrian and bicycle systems on campus with those in the city; c) begin preparing for a community bus system connecting the campus, the West Corridor light rail station, student housing, downtown Golden, Golden’s retirement communities, and other key community locations; and d) discouraging the use of cars by students and faculty where possible.

Status: Discussions between CSM, the city, and community members are ongoing. I helped secure a grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments to begin planning our community bus system.
