Improving Golden's Air Quality
My 2007 Priorities

Through my role on the Denver Regional Council of Governments board of directors and other opportunities, continue improving the quality of our air in Golden and the Denver Metro region.

Status: I persuaded the DRCOG board to take a clear position in favor of proposed new regulations for oil and gas wells. The Colorado Air Quality Control Commission subsequently adopted the proposed new regulations. Oil and gas drilling is a major source of the air pollution that ultimately results in Golden having some of the worst ozone pollution in the state. Making Golden even more bike and pedestrian friendly will help, as will the light rail station and community bus system. Many of the Golden Sustainability Initiative recommendations will improve air quality as well.
